Acceptance of these terms
By installing, accessing, or using Privacy Blur for WhatsApp Web, you agree to these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not install or use the extension.
Privacy Blur adds local visual controls to supported WhatsApp Web pages. Depending on your settings, it can blur names, profile photos, chat previews, open messages, media, and other supported page elements. It may also provide hover reveal and a local Password Lock screen.
Privacy Blur changes how supported content appears in your browser. It does not modify or encrypt the underlying WhatsApp messages.
Permitted use
You may use Privacy Blur for personal or internal business purposes, subject to these terms and applicable platform rules.
You must not use the extension to break the law, violate another person’s rights, disrupt the extension or supported services, distribute malicious modifications, or misrepresent Privacy Blur as an official WhatsApp or Meta product.
Your responsibilities
You are responsible for:
Account security
Protecting your device, Chrome profile, WhatsApp account, passwords, and active sessions.
Configuration
Choosing appropriate blur and lock settings and confirming that they work for your environment.
Lawful use
Using the extension consistently with applicable laws, workplace policies, and third-party terms.
Privacy and security limitations
Blur is a visual effect. Privacy Blur does not encrypt chats, prevent screenshots or screen recording, stop someone from photographing your display, secure notification previews outside supported pages, or guarantee that every interface change made by WhatsApp Web will be immediately covered.
Password Lock is a local visual gate, not device or account authentication. Its protection depends on the extension remaining installed and enabled. A person who can manage your browser, disable or remove extensions, use another browser profile, access developer tools, or control your device may be able to bypass visual protections.
Use your operating-system screen lock, a protected Chrome profile, and WhatsApp’s own account and linked-device controls for stronger protection.
Third-party platforms and links
Privacy Blur operates alongside Chrome and supported WhatsApp Web services. Google, Chrome Web Store, WhatsApp, Meta, email providers, website hosts, and linked websites operate under their own terms and policies. Privacy Blur Studio does not control their availability, interfaces, security, or data practices.
Privacy Blur is an independent browser extension and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected with WhatsApp or Meta. Their names, logos, products, and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Ownership and product materials
Privacy Blur Studio retains its rights in the extension’s original code, design, branding, website content, and product materials, except for third-party names, trademarks, interfaces, libraries, or materials owned by their respective holders.
Installing or using Privacy Blur does not transfer ownership of the product or its branding to you.
Availability, compatibility, and changes
Privacy Blur may be updated, changed, suspended, or discontinued to address compatibility, security, legal, or product-quality requirements. Features may temporarily stop working when Chrome or WhatsApp Web changes its interface or platform behaviour.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, support for every browser configuration, or permanent availability of any specific feature.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Privacy Blur is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, complete coverage, fitness for a particular purpose, or compatibility with every future version of Chrome or WhatsApp Web.
Nothing in these terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot legally be excluded.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Privacy Blur Studio will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from use of, inability to use, or reliance on the extension, including exposure of content caused by incorrect settings, platform changes, disabled extensions, screen capture, device access, or third-party services.
Nothing in these terms limits liability where limitation is prohibited by law.
Ending use and changes to these terms
You may stop using Privacy Blur at any time by disabling or uninstalling the extension. Chrome may retain or remove extension settings according to your browser, account-sync, and extension-removal behaviour.
Access to future versions or services may be restricted if the extension is used unlawfully, abusively, or in material violation of these terms.
These terms may be updated when product functionality, platform requirements, or legal obligations change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page identifies the current version. Continuing to use Privacy Blur after updated terms take effect means you accept the revised terms, where permitted by law.
